Onaga Bushi School
Benefit: +1 Reflexes
Honour: 2.0
Skills: Kenjutsu, Kyujutsu, Stealth, Athletics, Hunting (Trailblazing), Investigation, any one Low or Bugei.
Outfit: Light armour, sturdy clothing, ji-katana, any one weapon, travelling pack, 3 koku.
Rank 1: The Early Bird
The Onaga are taught to use the deceptive length of their ji-katana as an asset, striking faster than their opponents might predict. If the ji-katana is sheathed, you may make the Feint Maneuver for one raise instead of two. You also gain a bonus equal to your initiative equal to your School Rank so long as you are wielding a ji-katana.
Rank 2: A Feast of Pecks
By trading strength for speed, the Onaga are able to compensate for the inferior quality of their trademark weapons. When wielding a ji-katana, you may make the Extra Attack Maneuver for three raises instead of five, but suffer a -1k0 penalty to damage.
Rank 3: Two Halves
Whilst their sword is not literally half a katana, the Onaga treat it as such, striking twice in the same space of time that an inferior swordsman would have struck once. You may make Simple Action Attacks with the ji-katana.
Rank 4: All That Glitters
Theft is second nature to the Magpie. You are able to literally pluck a weapon out of your enemies hands, performing a Disarm Maneuver that inflicts no damage but leaves the weapon in your possession. You may make this maneuver for two raises, and may use your Reflexes instead of your Strength for the purposes of the contested roll.
Rank 5: A Thousand Feathers
Like the birds that they share their name with, the Onaga dart swiftly in and out of their opponent’s reach, striking repeatedly. You may move Water x 5’ and attack as one Simple Action, and gain +5 ATN whilst doing so.

Rank 3: Claws of the Fox

Rank 4: The Fox is Vicious
The Fox are taught to strike fast and hard, finishing a fight before it has even begun. You may make Simple Action attacks with the nagamaki, hankyu and weapons with the Samurai keyword.
Rank 5: The Fox Vanishes
The Fox’s greatest weapon is not being noticed. When in the Defence stance you may make a Hunting/Agility roll against an opponent’s Battle/Perception to force him to target some other opponent with his attacks. If you are the only target he can reach then this technique will not work. Your next attack against the targeted opponent gains +3k1. This technique can only be used against one opponent/round.
